Meat was brought out very quickly to the table on skewers. The salad bar is included for dinner, and it was great, but I didn't taste much because I was intrigued by the meat. The sides brought out to the table were small, but they refill them anytime you finish them. ![]() Be prepared to pay for drinks each time you refill, but that is expected at this price. If you are looking for top quality meat, I recommend this place. Our reservation wasn't until 5, but they sat us at 4:40 :) I recommend an earlier dining time if you can swing it because it was busy and there was a wait when we were leaving. We walked to the mall downtown but it started raining quite a bit, so we headed in early. My husband and I went down for a nice dinner in Indianapolis. Since this service has went on for multiple years, I think it is time for management to be replaced! For the price and compared to what it was previous years this was pathetic! Then after the waitress took my credit card for payment it was another 20 minutes to get it back. Now this sounds like a lot, but with tiny slices, there suppose to be 15 types total, and sitting for over 2 hours this was very disappointing. Then in the 2:15 that we were there I was offered a tolal of 6 pieces of meat (2 of the same type). This year there were 12 in our party and it started with 5 missing dishes on the salad bar. The last 2 years there were just 4 of us and we were seated at the same table both years and we watched the servers walk right past our table time after time until we spoke to a manager. This is the third year in a row with the worst service of any restaraunt. Taking photos of your plate and posting them to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with #DevourIndy in the caption enters you for a chance at a $30 gift card to any of the restaurants. My family has visited every year for 6 years over the Christmas holiday, since it is a special place for my daughter with Celiac disease, and this was the last. Moreover, Devour Downtown has incorporated social media and contests to promote the event. All of the items are inexpensive, so one can expect even better deals during the event.Īnother suggestion, Iaria’s, is a well-portioned Italian venue with a simple menu and a great bang for your buck. ![]() In another sense, cleverly titled Soupremacy on Market Street could be your next light lunch destination whenever you find yourself near Monument Circle. The whole idea behind this was just a good neighborhood place for people to get a good beer and a good burger and a little bit more.” We get everybody from the folks who go to the symphony, the people in tuxes who actually bring their instrument in,” he said, “right up to the person who just mowed their lawn and is in it for a good beer. Owner of Shoefly, Craig Mariutto, said recent Devour Downtown showcases have been successful in turning one-time visitors into regulars. On the hit list are city favorites aforementioned, but there are a few others that appear to be total winners for people wanting a new taste.įor example, Shoefly Public House, this week’s restaurant spotlight in the Recorder, is a place of bright colors, brick walls and a strong selection of fair-priced meals and appetizers. Over the last 10 to 15 years, Indianapolis has just blossomed.”ĭevour Downtown is less than two weeks away, so it can never be too early to prepare for the pilgrimage as Hoosiers should expect high traffic at some, if not all, of the venues included this year. “It’s a unique food culture in the Indianapolis market, and people are willing to go out and try new restaurants … which is really cool,” she said. This, in her opinion, is a sign of steady success. Susan Decker, an organizer for Devour Downtown since 2008, said the event has grown from featuring approximately 20 venues to the large number in the present. Elmo Steak House and Fogo de Chao are listed on the bill, but there are many other kinds of restaurants that range from the highest of scales to intimate, earthly settings. Three-course meals at Indy’s selection of restaurants may seem daunting, especially when upscale eateries like St. 4, encourages fine and casual dining at a reduced cost.
